Who we are

Lightmorphic VPN Test is run by Lightmorphic Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17423646. Registered office: 82A James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE. We are the controller of the data described here. Questions: privacy@lightmorphic.com.

What we process, and why

  • Your IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6), as seen by our server on each test request.
  • The addresses of the DNS servers that look up our test names for you, and any part of your address they pass on (the "client subnet").
  • Any proxy headers your requests carry, such as X-Forwarded-For.
  • Addresses your browser reveals through WebRTC, which your browser sends to us only so we can tell you the network they belong to.

We process these to give you the test result you asked for. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you asked for the test, and it cannot work without seeing these addresses.

How long we keep it

Test results, including DNS lookups, are held in the server's memory only, never on disk. The page deletes them as soon as your test finishes, and anything left is deleted automatically 30 minutes after the test started. Our server keeps no access logs, and its error log removes any address before writing. To slow down abuse we hold a scrambled form of your address in memory for up to 10 minutes; it cannot be turned back into your address and is never stored.

Your home connection

If you press "Remember my home connection", the record (the first three parts of your IPv4 address, the first three groups of your IPv6 address, and the names of the networks) is stored in your own browser only. It never reaches our server as a record. Press "Forget it" to delete it, or clear this site's data in your browser.

Who else sees anything

Nobody. We load nothing from other companies: no fonts, scripts, adverts or analytics. Network names come from databases we download and keep on our own server (iptoasn.com, and IPinfo when switched on), so your address is never sent to them. Your browser does look up our test names through your own DNS service, which is the point of the test.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to its use. Because we keep nothing beyond 30 minutes and cannot link a test to you, there will almost always be nothing left to give or delete, but write to us and we will check. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies

The test page sets no cookies. The admin area, used only by Lightmorphic staff, sets one strictly necessary sign-in cookie.
